Frequently Asked Questions
AllWhat is a heat meter (calorimeter)?
A heat meter is a device that measures the energy consumed in central heating and cooling systems. It calculates the consumed energy in kWh by measuring the temperature difference between the flow and return lines and the amount of water passing through the system.
How does an ultrasonic heat meter differ from a mechanical one?
An ultrasonic heat meter measures water flow ultrasonically and has no moving parts; measurement and calculation are fully electronic. A mechanical heat meter works with a turbine impeller system. Ultrasonic systems are more stable and less prone to under-measurement.
Which diameters do you offer?
We offer M-Bus and radio-signal ultrasonic heat meters in DN15, DN20, DN25, DN32 and DN40, and large-diameter ultrasonic heat meters from DN50 up to DN250.
What is the battery life of the heat meters?
The 18505 or 26500 lithium batteries used in Digitermo meters provide 5 or 10 years of battery life respectively. The battery type varies by model.
Can the heat meters be read remotely?
Yes. M-Bus output models can be read over the M-Bus line via a USB-250 or GSM-250 M-Bus converter; radio-signal models can be read wirelessly with Wireless M-Bus. One M-Bus converter supports up to 250 meters.
