Heat meters are manufactured using different data-transmission methods. Among these methods are M-Bus, RF and Pulse, each a different communication approach.
M-Bus is an abbreviation derived from the words Metering Bus. As the name suggests, it is a standard developed for the communication of measuring devices. This standard is generally used for devices such as electricity, hot water and cold water meters used in homes.
M-Bus is a low-cost serial communication protocol that can read data from long distances. It was developed to meet the need for remote reading of M-Bus meters, enabling the consumption of water and gas meters to be measured. It collects the data inside the meters at a common central unit; when desired, a computer can connect to it and the meters of a building can be read at periodic intervals.
An M-Bus converter is a type of conversion device. The digital data collected from apartments by the heat meter is gathered in the M-Bus device, converted into a programming language the computer can read, and transferred to the computer.
